
Royal House of Sulu
ROYAL AND HASHEMITE ORDER OF THE PEARL
1. The Royal and Hashemite Order of the Pearl (hereinafter referred to as “the Order”) is the dynastical Order of the Royal House of Sulu, which serves as the premier premial institution and the highest personal honour of and in the Royal Sultanate of Sulu.
2. The Order is an honourable and nobiliary corporation instituted as a dynastic Order of Datuship analogous to traditional dynastic Orders of Chivalry, and is in direct continuation from the ancient customs and distinctions of the Royal Sultanate of Sulu and the Court of the Sultan.
3. Membership within the Order is conferred: upon those who have performed worthy and meritorious service of an exceptional level for the Sultanate of Sulu, its provinces, and its people; upon those of any nationality who, in any field of endeavour, have become distinguished and respected figures of international renown by virtue of their celebrated activities; and upon those who have performed loyal and faithful service to the Royal House and its members.

4. Conferrals shall be made to reaffirm and promote the bonds of brotherhood, friendship and goodwill that link the Sultanate with the global family of states; the warm affection between the Royal House and other Royal and Princely Houses; and the noble values of the Tausug aristocracy in Sulu and amongst the worldwide Tausug diaspora.
Grades and Decorations
The Order's ranks shall comprise the paramount class of the PEARL COLLAR (Royal Companions of the Pearl Collar and Companions of the Pearl Collar) and, five regular classes, these being:
1. Grand Cordon
2. Distinguished Companion
3. Companion
4. Officer
5. Member
Royal Companions and Companions of the Pearl Collar shall wear:
The Collar Badge suspended from the Collar of the Order; The Star on the left side of the chest.
When the Collar is not worn, a Sash Badge, which is different in details, may be suspended from a wide ribbon 100 mm in width passing over the right shoulder and resting on the left hip. The Collar and the Sash of the paramount class of the Pearl Collar may not be worn together.


1. Grand Cordons of the Order shall wear: the Badge suspended from a wide ribbon 100 mm in width passing over the right shoulder and resting on the left hip; and the Star on the left side of the chest.
2. Distinguished Companions of the Order shall wear: the Badge of the Order suspended from a ribbon, 40 mm in width, around the neck or, for ladies, from a ribbon 40 mm in width, tied in a bow and worn on the left shoulder; and the Star on the left side of the chest.

3. Companions of the Order shall wear the Badge of the Order suspended from a ribbon, 40 mm in width, around the neck or, for ladies, from a ribbon, 40 mm in width, tied in a bow and worn on the left shoulder.

4. Officers of the Order shall wear the Badge of the Order suspended from a ribbon 40 mm in width worn upon the left breast

5. Members of the Order shall wear the Badge of the Order suspended from a ribbon 40 mm in width worn upon the left breast.
